Vesta vs. SpaceStat

SpaceStat user will notice several immediate differences between SpaceStat and Vesta:

  • Support data sources with different projections - users can import datasets with different cartographic projections
  • Time format change - no need for two columns indicating start and end dates, respectively
  • No temporal date needed for time-independent data (depending on data file type at import)
  • Map tiles to aid in contextualizating mapped data
  • Accept .xlsx and .csv file
  • Joinpoint regression to model temporal trends and estimate the timing of any significant changes
  • Expanded Kriging methods available

When will Vesta have more analysis features?

Our team is dedicated to providing regular version updates that incorporate an increasing number of geospatial analysis methods. Several analytical functionalities will be added incrementally in future releases of Vesta, including:

  • Allow the import of ESRI GeoDatabase files
  • Methods for rate smoothing and noise-filtering
  • Geostatistical methods for space-time interpolation and uncertainty modeling
  • Compositional data analysis
  • More complex regression models, starting with the incorporation of interaction terms and categorical variables in linear regression

We are happy you have this versatile tool in your hands and we look forward to offering more analysis capabilities in the future.
