We are delighted to announce that Aman Bhogal will be joining BioMedware as a Data Science Intern this summer. Aman brings a unique blend of passion for health equity and neuroscience, aligning seamlessly with BioMedware’s commitment to leveraging geospatial technology for improved health outcomes.
Aman’s academic journey is both impressive and inspiring. In addition to starting her Master’s of Health Informatics at the University of Michigan School of Information, she continues to engage in research from Wayne State University School of Medicine that intersects neuroscience and public health. Her work has led to several notable publications, including:
- “Are the kids really alright? Impact of COVID-19 on mental health in a majority Black American sample of schoolchildren”
- “Alterations in fear extinction neural circuitry and fear-related behavior linked to trauma exposure in children”
- “Impact of maternal childhood trauma on child behavioral problems: The role of child frontal alpha asymmetry”
These studies highlight Aman’s dedication to understanding and addressing mental health challenges, particularly among underserved communities. At BioMedware, Aman will research geospatial techniques in mental health research, and the development of appropriate study protocols that will leverage geospatial data and technologies.
“I’m incredibly grateful for this opportunity that will allow me to combine my passion for health equity and neuroscience with BioMedware’s geospatial technology.” – Aman Bhogal
She also extended her gratitude to mentors and supporters who have guided her, including Bud Gibson, Krystle Forbes, Harry Bhogal, Tyrone Pettygrue, and Grace Jung.
At BioMedware, we have a rich history of fostering talent through our internship programs. Our collaborations with initiatives like the Digital Summer Clinic have been mutually beneficial, bringing fresh perspectives to our projects and providing interns with invaluable hands-on experience. Reflecting on past experiences, Dr. Geoffrey Jacquez noted:
“Reliable, intelligent, dedicated, creative, motivated, and highly qualified, our interns are among the most valuable additions to our team.”
We are confident that Aman’s internship will be equally rewarding. Working alongside experts like Dr. Geoffrey Jacquez and Dr. Pierre Goovaerts, she will have the opportunity to delve into advanced geospatial analyses, contributing to projects that aim to address pressing mental health disparities.
Please join us in welcoming Aman Bhogal to the BioMedware family! We look forward to the insights and energy she will bring to our ongoing mission of harnessing data and technology to improve health outcomes for all.
